Additional activities

Music Time:

Music Time visits the nursery once during the week (usually on a Tuesday afternoon).  Music Time is a magical music and movement class that uses traditional nursery rhymes and songs that are made fun with marvellous actions, creative props and boundless energy. Music Time visits all children in the Crocodile and Zebra (pre-school) rooms.

PE:

Staff run a weekly PE session for all children in our Zebra (pre-school) rooms. This session aims to Improve physical fitness, develop motor skills development, provides regular healthful physical activity, teach self-discipline and facilitates development of student responsibility for their own health and fitness.

Field Forest Play:

Children in the Zebra (pre-school) and Crocodile rooms take part in this fun weekly activity.  The philosophy of Field Forest Play is to encourage and inspire children through positive outdoor experiences giving each child an opportunity to develop skills such as self-awareness, motivation, empathy, good social communication skills, independence, a positive mental attitude, self-esteem and confidence.

Yoga and Mindfulness time:

Across the nursery we have daily Yoga and mindfulness time.  Yoga for children brings stories to life through specially developed moves inspired by yoga. Combining fun with exercise, children will go on wild adventures where they may roar like a lion, fly like a bird or blast into outer space!

Mindfulness has been shown to decrease stress, anxiety and feelings of depression in children. In particular, mindfulness in early years settings can help children manage their mental health, as children at nursery generally exist almost entirely in the present moment, teaching them how to be more in control of their emotions is a key life skill.
