Our Team

Scallywags Private Day Nursery is run by sisters Mary and Sarah and a team of highly qualified and experienced early years professionals.

 

All staff undertake a range of training to enable them to care for children, work on their development and protect them from harm.  Most of our staff are fully trained to NVQ Level 3 or above, or are working towards this qualification, and many have been working with us over 10 years.

Our ratios of staff to children are set by Ofsted and are as follows:

• Babies aged 0-2 years - ratio of 1:3

• Toddlers aged 2-3 years - ratio of 1:5

• Pre-school children aged 3-5 years - ratio of 1:8 or 1:13 if working with a qualified nursery teacher.

 

All nursery staff are fully vetted to ensure they are suitable to work with children (including a full DBS checks).  All staff also sign up to the update service to allow us to run checks on their suitability on a termly basis.

 

Our friendly team focus on providing a fun and exciting environment where children can play, learn, and advance in their development, but most importantly have fun. 

 

Our team is dedicated to ensuring that your child develops as an individual whilst helping to nurture and encourage their learning through discovery and enjoyment.  We pride ourselves on developing children’s personal and emotional development including confidence and enthusiasm from an early age.  We want the children in our care to become confident learners that are ultimately ready to transition smoothly onto school.
